At 12:15 on 20th June, a cargo flight from Tokyo to Nantong landed at Nantong Xingdong International Airport.
Unlike usual, the goods carried by the plane were not goods imported by Nantong. Instead, the cross-border goods would transfer through Nantong Xingdong International Airport under the supervision of Nantong Customs, and would arrive in Chengdu in the early morning of the next day. It marked the official start of ‘a(chǎn)ir-to-air transfer’ multimodal transport service in Nantong.
‘Air-to-air transfer’ means the transportation mode in which air cargo is transported to its destination via two or more flights under the supervision of the Customs.
The mode not only successfully linked airports without direct flights, but also significantly improved the cargo transfer efficiency and enhanced logistics efficiency, and reduced the cost of transport for enterprises.
